Woman Against Her Sex
Iconic Syrian writer and translator Georges Tarabichi died last Wednesday aged He was a profound, meticulous and vibrant thinker. Born in Aleppo, he started his intellectual journey and public work as a member of Baath party, then left it and moved to Beirut. When the ugly civil war broke out in Lebanon, he settled in Paris until his death. Anyone who has analyzed the changes that the Arab world has gone through, and the debates about identity, secularism and fundamentalism, would understand his writings. Despite the difficulty of the topics he addressed in his research and translations, he was distinguished by the smoothness, freshness and pureness of his writing.
